Brisbane Scuba Classes

Dive shops often throw as many as twelve people together in a single class with instructors trying to give lessons and information all at the same time, making the process very confusing. With a huge class like this, not all students are given the attention they deserve.

At Duckbill Scuba, there is a maximum of four students in our Brisbane scuba classes, with most only having two. You will be in the hands of a skilled instructor who will provide you with their undivided attention. They will ensure your safety and will equip you with all of the essentials as your training progresses.

My classes are based on performance, not by time. Some dive shops offering scuba diving lessons often rush through as quickly as possible. After all, the class would never end if you took your time with twelve people! I base completion on the student’s performance and capabilities. I’m happy to keep working with my students for as long as it takes to become comfortable with the skills.

Independent

Traditional dive shops have a higher overhead — they have to pay rent and multiple employees — so they need to make the most profit from you. They have to sell equipment to do this and may push you to buy something you don’t need.

For the record, I do sell some basic equipment to make things easier for you, but don’t need it to pay the rent. My only concern is for you to have fun while you’re becoming to be a safe and competent diver! We can talk about your diving plans and I can make recommendations for what equipment to consider buying when you’re ready. I can even give you a list of the best places to buy it from.

Aware

Project AwareAs a 100% Aware Partner, a portion of all course fees is donated to Project AWARE – an organisation committed to improving the world’s oceans, one diver at a time. You’ll receive the Project AWARE version of your PADI certification card and be part of a movement of divers protecting our ocean planet.

The donation will go towards the following.

  • Marine Debris Prevention: collecting data and removing devastating debris worldwide while tackling policy efforts to address long-term solutions.
  • Shark Protection: securing protection for the world’s most vulnerable shark species. Together, we’re strengthening shark finning bans and closing policy loopholes in countries that matter most.
